The cars were relatively quiet and the crime rate was low that night. People mingled and greeted each other as they passed. Overall, it was a peaceful day in the city.

    Except for one thing…

"Oh shit! Oh shit! Oh shit!" Rei whisper-yelled to himself as he bolted through the streets. Three men in black hoodies were on his tail. He turned and raced into a alley, the men following a few steps behind. He went through various twists and turns, but to no avail. He always did have the worst luck.

He skid to a stop at dead end. He sighed and whirled around with a scowl, "Look, I'm sorry that I broke a little hole in the wall, okay?"

One of the hooded men scoffed, "A little hole? The entire building collapsed!"

Rei shrugged and tugged on the ends of his gloves, "It's your fault for picking such an unsound structure as your base. Besides, that was a whole year ago, can't you forgive and forget?" They growled and pulled guns from their pockets. He exhaled softly, "So apparently not… Alright, if it's a fight you want I have nothing against it."

He pulled off one of his leather gloves and held out his hand. Azure electricity crackled around his fingers for a moment before it shot out and hit two of the three men. They howled in agony as the blue energy fried their bodies black.

Their corpses fell to the floor, the scent of burnt flesh wafting through the air. The last man watched in trepidation.

Rei chuckled humorlessly, "Don't think that you're getting off that easy." The black clad man stumbled back a few steps before sprinting and leaping over a brick wall. "Get back here!" the tall man yelled. "That coward…"

He heard a few slashes accompanied by a pained scream on the other side of that wall… Well screw that, he wasn't going that way anymore. He glanced around and spotted a broken fire escape that was just a little too high for his liking, but he saw little choice but to climb this hazardous ladder. Thanks city inspectors! He gave a running start and jumped, barely latching on to the bars. The tall man swiftly climbed up. He ambled over to the other side of the roof and peered down, the hooded man's mutilated corpse lay bellow in a growing pool of his own blood.. "Tch." he said in distain. He straightened up and began hopping from building to building until he found his culprit… with some weird lolita.

"So cool!" the girl squealed. Cool could be a word to describe such a creature, though Rei thought 'creepy' was a better synonym to use with all those eyes. He bristled when the eye on its tail turned to him, he waved with a raised eyebrow. This animal looked far from docile. In fact, it kind of looked a little like the demons he'd read about back in that cult. What were they called again…? Oh yeah! Prijmas! But wait, weren't they dangerous? He pondered as the child inched towards the demon as if she were going to pet the damn thing.

"Oi! Are you insane?!" he yelled down. The girl paused and snapped her head up. While she was distracted, the friend took its opportunity and bit into her arm, blood gushed out of the new wound and spattered against the asphalt. She screeched and swung it off, cradling her arm. Rei was about to intervene when he saw the most peculiar thing.

The red liquid on the ground began to quiver and float, all to one point until it had enough to form a silhouette of an… elf? Rei's eyes widened in shock and confusion, but why wasn't he doing anything? The demon shot forward again, but the clone blocked its way. It slashed at the abomination with all its might, yet the demon was still on its feet.

The monster kicked the blood person into a wall, staining the stone with red splotches, and advanced towards the girl at a leisurely pace. She backed into a wall in fright. Rei panicked and shot his electricity, only for it to miss and hit (what he'd like to call) the red target. It went rigid for a moment then crouched down and convulsed as the energy swirled around it. "Oh dammit…" He leaped to a windowsill… and slipped off. He shouted as he fell, crashing into a pile of trash next to the child. He tried to contain his curses, but he was failing horribly.

The girl covered her mouth in a gasp, "Mister! Are you okay?"

He struggled to sit up and glared, "Do I look like I'm okay?" She opened her mouth to speak, but Rei cut her off. "Whatever. You have bigger problems right now, brat."

She replied, "But you could have broken—"

"Look out!" Her hair whipped around her as she turned her head to see the Prijma standing over them with a malicious grin. "Ah!" she squeezed her eyes shut and covered her head.

Boom! The demon went flying across the pavement. The two looked up at the blood demon, azure sparks flying around it. It stalked over to the twitching monster and slammed its head into the concrete. Its skull cracked and you could even see bits of scorched grey matter mixed in the wreckage. Obviously, it was fed up with that demon's antics…

Colin was watched in absolute horror, whilst Tizuka gave them an impressed whistle. "W-Who are these people?" Colin asked.

"Our next contestants, of course." Tizuka stated with a Cheshire Cat grin

Rei blinked owlishly as the clone dissolved into thin air. "How… did you do that mister?" She asked.

Rei rubbed a shaky hand through his brown hair, "I don't know, I guess it has something to do with the iron in blood." The girl placed a hand over her eyes and shuttered. He placed a hand on her shoulder and shook her, "Hey brat, are you okay?"

She composed herself much quicker than Rei expected her to and gave him a big smile, "I'll be fine. I'm glad you're alright though, Mr…"

He exhaled, "Rei. Rei Himura." He slipped his leather glove back over his hand and slowly stood up. Besides a little soreness, he felt fine. Maybe he was luckier than he'd originally thought.

The loli jumped up and pulled a roll of bandages out of her pocket to tend to her wound as she spoke. "I'm Amabel Baines!"

Amabel Baines…? He swore he'd heard that name before. The name was accompanied with a gruesome mental image of a victim, but he refused to believe that the ability she'd shown in battle was a result of his greed and stupidity. He concluded that he had never seen or done anything to this kid in his life.

"Mr. Himura? You look really familar, have we met before?"

His breath hitched in his throat, "…No. I would have remembered someone like you kiddo." he lied. Goddammit! He suddenly felt kinda bad… She tilted her head with a calculating gaze, to which Rei hoped she didn't recognize his face.

"Oh~ What's that?"she said, trailing away from her thoughts and pocketing the gauze. Thank goodness that children had a short attention span. She shuffled over to, what Rei assumed was, a portal and leaned over to inspect it.

"Hold on kid!" He said, following the girl. She leaned in a bit more and…

Opps. Down the rabbithole she went, pulling on Rei's sleeve in a panic and evidently making him lose balence as well.

    "Wakey wakey~"

Rei groaned and groggily opened his eyes, "Wha—" he shot up. "Another demon?"

Tizuka grinned, "That's right, I'm Tizuka and welcome to the wonderful world of Wisayumei!!" Rei paused and fantically looked around the cave for his companion. Amabel lay on a silver-haired woman's shoulder, her arm magically repaired. A brunette with a german shepherd stood a few feet away from them.

"Why are we here?" he growled.

Tizuka chuckled at his misfortune, "Why, your little girlfriend brought you here."

His eye twitched, "You know what I meant, you purple bastard. What was with that portal? Portals don't just appear out of thin air!"

Tizuka shook his head, "Such a puny human brain…" Rei swore that he was going to punch this guy. "You need to think outside the box! That demon you killed, so violently might I add, contained a teleportation crystal." Teleportation crystal? This guy was a lunatic.

"… Right. Is there a reason as to why you teleported us, oh great purple bastard?" Tizuka frowned briefly before that ever-present smirk reappeared on his face.

"Something special. A tournament, to be exact~" He said with theatrical movements.

"A tournament?" the man questioned with wide eyes. "I don't want to fight!"

Tizuka sighed, "Oh...alright then, I guess you don't have to if you don't want to."

Awkward silence filled the air at Tizuka's words. His minions wondering if he really giving him a choice.

    "Are you serious?" Rei asked.

The purple demon nodded and glanced over at Amabel, "Although, I guess she'll have to stay and fight alone. Y'know, since we have so few tourney fighters."

Rei stiffened, "… Why would it matter? That kid has nothing to do with me."

He chortled, "I beg to differ Mr. Himura," Rei grit his teeth. "but I guess if you really want to go home—"

    "Fine." Rei mumbled.

"What was that?" Tizuka cupped a hand over his ear.

    "I said fine!"

Tizuka clasped his hands together, "I knew you'd see it my way!"

Rei pinched the bridge of his nose, "What are the rules Tizuka?"

The purple demon waved his hand dismissively, "Patience, you'll find out the details when your competition arrives." Rei glared, but thought it would be best to keep his mouth shut for now. He didn't want Amabel to get anymore hurt because he'd said something rash after all.
I did two all-nighters I did to make this, I think I did pretty good. :happybounce:

I did edit it again and now it's around… 1500 words, so give me feedback on whether or not I did well this time around.

It's short, but I am really fond of your characters! Maybe if you had them interacting more before they went into the portal.?
